The Barn has been in its present location for almost 100 years, as it was built in 1919. It burned down in the early 1940s and was rebuilt. It served as a working dairy barn until the early 1960s when Steve Arnold (the developer known as The Woodmoor Corporation) bought the property. The building was eventually repurposed to be the Community Center for Woodmoor.
WIA has remodeled The Barn a few times over the years, but has continued to use it as the Community Center for Woodmoor residents and non-residents alike. People hold all types of functions here, from birthday, anniversary, and Christmas parties to weddings and receptions, seminars, meetings, classes, church services, etc.
No, WIA rents to members, as well as non-members.
As a member of WIA, if you are having a personal function (immediate family birthday, anniversary, wedding, etc.), you are entitled to 4 free hours every 6 months. The rental time must include set up, clean up, and your function. You cannot combine your hours with another resident, and hours do not accumulate.
The Community Center maximum capacity per fire code is 100. Please contact the WIA Office to see if there are any current occupancy restrictions.
The rental includes tables and chairs for up to 100 people, use of the kitchen facilities (refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave), deck and front pavilion.
Yes, we do allow alcohol in the Community Center, but it cannot be sold. You must provide WIA with an insurance certificate for host liquor coverage, with WIA listed as an additional insured. Contact Amber at 719-488-2693 ext 6, as she does have a third-party company that offers this coverage if your homeowners or renters insurance company does not.
