Hello Woodmoor residents!
We are rolling into a very dry summer due to the lack of moisture over the winter and we are being very mindful of our increased forestry related risks. Please take some time to review our firewise information on the website and cleanup any additional fuels you may have on your property. Please note, any bark beetle infestations or presence need to be removed BEFORE June 1st. Our chipping days are set for June 20th & 21st and July 18th & 19th. Black Forest Slash is also open for disposal of approved material. We will be checking stacked firewood cords for size, health, and locations soon so please be mindful of the requirements. I too am guilty of needing to cleanup my stacks so let’s all do our part so we don’t need to send out covenant reminder letters. Here is the latest verbiage regarding firewood:
“H. FIREWOOD
Firewood stacks are limited to no more than 2 full cords of wood on an improved lot; each cord measuring no more than four (4) feet high by four (4) feed wide by eight (8) feet long (4 ft. x 4 ft. x 8 ft.) and has a volume of no more than 128 cubic feet. Construction material and/or debris does not constitute as firewood.
Firewood must be cut and stacked accordingly:
- Sixteen (16) inch length pieces
- Neatly stacked a minimum of thirty (30’) feet away from any house
- Free of slash, trash or debris
- Cannot be stacked between trees
- May not become so aged that it is decaying or an increased fire hazard at the determination of WIA
The WIA believes that the intent of the covenant is that firewood be used so as not to become a visual nuisance or fire risk and shall be depleted through use.”
We still have ample money available for the fire mitigation grant that can match up to fifty percent of approved costs. Please contact us if you’re interested as there are specific steps we need to take. It is a slow process but I highly encourage you to use it, who doesn’t want some of their money back?
Open flames and fireworks are NEVER allowed in Woodmoor as a reminder, please call WPS if you see anyone violating this rule. If it has to lit it is considered a combustible and banned, this includes sparklers.
We hope you have a great summer and stay safe.
